7.26 How does armor function?

To maintain the feel of Star Wars, armor may not be desirable by all players. Armor causes your maximum for a stat (depending on the armor) to be lowered while wearing it. The benefit of wearing armor is that a percentage of the damage done to that part of your body goes to the armor instead of the appropriate pool. As the armor takes damage it will become less effective until repaired. Specific armor types only protect against specific types of damage, like impact, energy, etc.
