Asherons Call: AC Story Wins Seal of Quality

| 27 Oct 2002 05:35

This press release is nearly two weeks old now. And I apologize to Peeling for being so remiss in posting it:

fanStory.com has a twenty member committee that discusses and votes on whether a story (or novel) is written at a professional caliber level and is entertaining enough to be awarded a fanStory.com Seal of Quality. The great majority of works placed before the
committee are turned down.

But I'm very happy to announce that the AC short novel Tales of Dereth has been awarded a Seal of Quality.

It is the first AC story to be awarded a seal and only the second fan fiction story to ever have a seal attached. Peeling, in winning this seal, is now a professional level author on fanStory.com.

An Excerpt:[blockquote][i]For a moment he could not think what was happening. The stone halls rang with bestial screams, and stooped, lanky shapes were everywhere. Flickering torchlight had replaced the normal cool gemstone glow. He could hear the sounds of battle in the distance. Several of the creatures saw him, and shrieked a warning. Banderlings. They poured towards him in an unstoppable tide, driving him backwards. He swung desperately with his sword, but they dodged out of range, taunting him, then pressing forward again, forcing him to give ground or be swamped. Why would they not commit to attack? They were a hundred blades to his one, and yet they did not kill him. Where was his clan? He retreated, knowing the tunnels of his home instinctively. He bumped into something behind him that wasn't stone. Spinning around, he was confronted by another Lugian, blood streaming from many wounds. Behind him were more Lugians, back to back facing a wall of Banderlings.

"What's happening?" shouted Choth over the noise.

"They came out of nowhere, a new portal we think," the Lugian shouted in reply. Choth recognized him as Golut, the leader of the Clan Guard. "They haven't killed any of us, though we have slaughtered many of them. I've never seen Banderlings behave this way. It's as if they're holding us for something."

[i]This book is enjoyable by anyone whether or not they've played AC. But is an especially enjoyable read to AC fans.
