We attacked. The trash monsters were not junking up the place. We were very grateful for that. We started with Slashing, and that did not do much damage at all. The mage got chased up the ramp, but it was not the instant death that a mage normally experiences when attacked by Gaerlan. In fact, our mage experienced three separate, full on Gaerlan attacks, and lived through them all. That is a big change, as I have never seen a mage live from one attack, let alone three.

I was hitting at the lowest power, fastest attack, using slash. I was doing around 8 damage with crits of 20. Well, that was not going to take him down. I asked the mage to start varied attacks and find the best one. He found that pierce was best. I grabbed my CB or CS piercing katar. The mage buffed it as I attacked.

My damage went to 10 with 32 point crits. I was critting a lot, but we were not keeping ahead of the healing rate. I watched Gaerlan's health go up and down but never under 99.6 and several times back to 100.
