Matrix Online: MxO Beta "Download" Rumor

A heads up was offered at the official site warning of an ominous rumor- read this from mxo.walrus.

This weekend, someone posted that there was a download of the MxO beta client available on Kazaa. The message was posted as a "notification" to WB that an illegal download was available.

This is a typical scam used by people to get folks to download all kinds of nasty stuff to their PCs. Unfortunately, some folks will go and download the file without thinking twice. If you don't want to make your system implode or, worse, give away your private information, don't fall for scams like this.

In this case, as many users pointed out, it didn't seem reasonable that someone would post to the boards about this to communicate with Warner Bros. You'd expect the person to send an email.

As time goes on, there will certainly be more scams like this. If it seems at all fishy, it probably is.
