Mystery of Warcry scores yet another interview at Turbine! This time Mystery speaks with Jason Wonacott, Turbine's Director of Corporate Communications and the evil genius behind Turbine Nation:
One of the many things that are going to be different about this year's event was the change of venue. No longer was it to be held in Jeff Anderson's Mother's back yard and basement (not that it ever was). No, this year, they're moving on up, to the big time - a deluxe apartment, one might say, in the sky.
"Yep, we're going to Providence, for a number of different reasons. Boston is hosting the Democratic National Convention this year, there's also the "Big Dig" [massive construction on Interstate 95 through Boston] and there are a number of things that make Boston just a little bit too crazy for some people."
"So, knowing that we wanted to keep it local, we looked at the whole area of New England," he continued, "and Providence made sense as this is Turbine's 10th anniversary - and we were born in Providence (A lot of people forget that Turbine was founded by former students and faculty from Brown University). In addition, Providence is really easy to get in and out of, as compared to Boston. The cost of living there is a little bit cheaper, a little more affordable, so hotel accommodations are a little more reasonable. It's close to the water, so it becomes a destination place. Providence is a fun city: There is a lot to see and do when you're down there."
