Clyde Bielss, CEO of Mindsurge Entertainment, wearing one of his many hats as head graphic artist for the FreeWorld development team, announced upgraded graphics in terrain in the Freeworld MMO, currently in alpha testing.
One of the more advanced alpha presentations in the race for King of the MMORPGs, FreeWorld already has a fairly sophisticated graphic background regarding terrain and player interaction with the landscape. Even at this early stage, the game has one of the best weather systems going, and the visual effects of light, sky, wind, snow, rain, wind and water are amazing. Now supplementing that canvas is a third layer of art added (by hand, I might add) to the other two layers, to present a pleasing display of the contours of earth and grass in the terrain.

Clyde, known as Draconus to the Freeworld players, testers and dev team, said that the new texturing changes would be introduced into the game with the latest patch, either today or tomorrow (July 27 or 28). The two pictures, exclusive to Warcry and FW Warcry, show the outlines of terrain contouring. Note that the grass, although not the focus of these pictures, has been created by the new Alien Codec grass engine.
Clyde says he is very excited about the new grass engine and is looking forward to mowing the...er...adding lots of good green grass to Freeworld. In the meantime, the bumps and grinds of gritty reality have been added with an artistic hand to the sculptured land of FreeWorld.
