Ken Karl stopped in at the accmty.com boards to answer a few nagging questions about the changes:[blockquote]I wanted to take the time to answer a few questions I have received on the new combat macro enforcement:
1. What about people who speak different languages?
- We have bi/tri lingual admins for many different languages. Additionally, the amount of non-English help calls/communications that the admins get into, where they do not also know English is under .5% of the total calls. If in the rare case we can not communicate, we will make a decision based on the actions we observe. You may also appeal at any time. The reason for this is that we also know the game that many combat macroer's will try to play, which will be all of a sudden they do not know or understand English. This will not be a valid tactic. Anyone who is contacted by an admin should respond. Nearly 99.9% of all cases currently have that happen, so there is no reason to feel like that % should drop because of this new enforcement.
2. Is there an appeals process?
- You can always write in for appeals to accmty@microsoft.com. Appeals on 24 hour bans will most likely not be processes quic**y enough to take effect before the ban is lifted. Appeals in perma-bans however will look back on the 24-hour ban, did an appeal happen then? Where was the person? What is their track record of previous bans? etc. All appeals result will be final and binding.
3. What about <fill in the blank> macros?
- The ONLY type of macro that is against the CoC is unattended Combat Macros.
I know this can sound a bit cold, but we also understand the arena we are about to enter. People will try to get around the system and as such, we will be very firm in enforcement of this policy.
What is the safest approach? Do not Combat Macro.
