messeladro asked about getting stuck in game repeatedly over the previous few weeks. srand was kind enough to respond:
[blockquote]Over the past two months, the worlds of Asheron's Call have experienced intermittent server issues. These issues affect players in a variety of ways, but often result in failures to teleport or extreme lag followed by a disconnect. Often, when the player attempts to log back in, they receive the message that their character is still in the world. They may be able to log in other characters, but not the one that is 'stuck', until the incident is resolved.
The AC Live team is taking this situation very seriously, and working very hard to solve it. We have introduced several server optimizations that have succeeded in reducing the severity if not the frequency of these incidents, and we continue to do everything in our power to ensure a speedy - and permanent - resolution.
There is nothing you can do yourself to get your characters unstuck, but there are ways that you can help the admins deal with the incident more quickly.
Firstly, please be patient. We understand that frustration can make you impatient -- this is a frustrating issue for us as well. When you begin to experience problems, please do use Urgent Assistance to let the admins know, but please understand that it is likely that many players are also experiencing the same problems, and so you may not receive a personal answer. Be assured, however, that the admins are working to get you - and the other players - fixed up and able to play again.
Secondly, it would be a great help to us if you can provide us with the following information:
1. Where were you when the problem affected you?
2. What were you doing? Hunting, buying from a vendor, chatting, interacting with an NPC? If you were portalling, where were you coming from and where were you going to? How many people were within your radar range? How many monsters?
3. If you were in a dungeon, how many people would you estimate were in the dungeon with you? Were you in a fellowship? What were people around you doing? Had you noticed any strange behavior before the problem affected you? Were monsters acting strangely? Were other people around you doing strange things? Was anything odd happening with your character? How long had you been logged in at the time of the problem?
4. Do you use any third party programs? It's perfectly okay if you do, but we need to know which ones in case there is a strange interaction going on with one of them.
5. Was there anyone macroing in the area when you got stuck? Were you macroing?
Thank you again for your patience and assistance during these incidents. And rest assured that we are doing everything possible to end these incidents as quickly as possible.[/blockquote]
