Asherons Call: A Few Q&A

Question vn_Gaetano - Shoes! Why can''t we wear them under our sollies?
Answer Sean_Huxter - Because there are a finite number of armor and clothing slots and they are all being used. Adding more would only overly complicate matters. To simplify matters, boots are boots, and gloves are gloves. You can''t fit boots on over boots, and you can''t fit gloves on over gloves. As it is, having layers of armor over clothing is probably more complexity than needed in a game. But hey, that''s just MY opinion. Sollerets are lined with comfy sock-like interiors, so no socks are needed. Same with gauntlets.

Question acklebar Are we ever going to stop dropping items on death? Carrying a bunch of Gems/Master Robes etc around adds nothing to the game. Some more people might even try out PK then too. It seems like a pointless relic to me.
Answer srand - The AC team is internally divided on this subject. We are currently in a state of truce, however, so we have no plans for the immediately future to remove item loss on death.

Todd_Berkebile - The very fact that you would want item loss removed implies to me that item loss is an effective encouragement against dying. Why should players be encouraged to recklessly kill themselves?

Sean_Huxter - I was incredibly annoyed when we reduced the drop-penalties on death, and continue to be so. Loss of items on death gives you an incentive not to die. The more we ease the penalty of dying, the closer we come to having death be nothing more than a "YOU HAVE DIED" message come up but you just keep on swinging against that creature. Death will mean nothing. Which is not the way AC was intended. We members of the original development team decided what inconveniences death should cause. We decided never to reduce XP you have already earned, but introduced the Vitae penalty with an apporpriate amount of death-item drop. We have since reduced that at lower levels and should not have. As srand posted, there are currently no plans to change this.

Question teh-frozz You know...More People Hate The New Lottong Then People Like It...
Answer Sean_Huxter - Still, to me, cycling through 8 bodies is SO much faster than cycling through 120 scarabs on the ground looking for that one good sword. I use my [] keys. This is MUCH easier.
