With PvP being a major feature of the upcoming City of Villains additon, players have been wondering how controller will be effective in large scale battles. Well, Dev's to the rescue- Statesman has come back with this result!
The crack design team has been testing, testing, testing Controllers in Arch Villain fights...
The goal: we want a single Controller to feel at least useful in a battle against an Arch Villain. After all, a single Scrapper or Blaster can contribute damage - and a single Tanker can hold aggro - and a single Defender can buff/debuff.
So here's the solution: Arch Villains will have a power (with a visual effect) which makes them very, very resistant to immobilizes, holds, stuns & sleeps. But this power turns on and off. So a single Controller need only wait for this power to turn off - and then he can affect the Arch Villain just like a Boss.
Now I played this myself - many times - and it turned out really good. I kept half an eye on the AV - to see when his defenses slipped - and then BOOM hit him with a couple of holds. WHAM. One Arch Villain held.
We're going to put this up onto the Training server, probably after the next Expansion. I want every interested Controller to get in there and test it. I want to make sure that it's fun and enjoyable. A Controller (heck any Archetype) should never feel left out on the sidelines in a battle.
