imageHow hard can a quest involving hardwood be? Not that hard, right? Well, travel along with me, Arwen, your intrepid, roving, irregular, Freeworld reporter and find out the lowdown (and the high down) of the wood situation in Freeworld.

I was on the prowl for some hardwood trees for The Royal Bow Quest adventure for goten trunks and some other players. They had asked me where to find the hardwood for this quest, so I wandered through a bunch of different maps looking for this rare item.

imageDuring my travels, I came across some of the mobs that are in Freeworld. In the North Haunted Woods, I found Ghost Stallions and Ghost Archers and Mummies (oh, my!). I also saw some crosses in this area...but no hard wood trees.

So on to the next map where King Dave's Castle (Lord Nevik's Tomb) is located. I came across Spiders, Ghouls and Mummies...this time I even found some trees but no hardwood.

imageAfter that, getting mighty perplexed, I traveled north up to the Hador Coast and found Bile lil'em and, you guessed it, still no hardwood trees.

imageThe next map was Hador Coast proper, where I found Sand Golems and Giant Gilas but no hardwood trees...thence on to Timberlin where I spotted Lava Sprites and Fire Wasps but still no danged hardwood trees.

As I was hunting high and low for these pesky trees, I espied Draconus (aka Clyde Bielss), the head of the development team for FreeWorld, and asked him where could one find the elusive hardwood trees.

imageDrac said, without batting an eye, "I took them out." I gritted my teeth, and he added hastily, "But they will come back! Why are you looking for them?" I told him they were part of a quest that required hardwood to complete.

At my unhappy look, Draconus explained, "I had to start adding choppable trees back into the game, so I removed the hardwood trees. A lot of the old trees will not be coming back into the game. And there will be only about two to three tree types you can cut down." So the joke was on me...I had been running around the game looking for trees that weren't there anymore. However, Drac promised to put some back for the questers, and I had to be satisfied with that. And, hey, I got some great shots of a few Freeworld mobs, didn't I? That last mob with the horns is VERY rare and elusive!
