On August 1st, David Bowman, Producer of the Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG) Horizons sent an e-mail out to every Horizons player containing a state of the game. In this new state of the game, Bowman described upcoming features of Horizons and the overall financial future of Artifact Entertainment.

HORIZONS: STATE OF THE GAME, AUGUST 1st, 2004

"Dear (player name),

With all that is happening both at Artifact Entertainment and within Horizons: Empire of Istaria, I thought it proper to send you a message to give you a brief state-of-the-game and direct you to some links that provide some answers to many questions I've been seeing on the forums and directed to me personally.

Let me thank you personally for your commitment to Horizons. Without your support and feedback, we could not have created the wonderful world, new races, dynamic crafting and adventuring systems that make Horizons stand far apart from any other on-line game and other forms of entertainment. I've said many times before, we remain committed to continuing to provide, well into the future, the best content, the best look, the most interesting events, and the best game available.

The future of Artifact Entertainment and Horizons is very promising. I say this sincerely, knowing that we will emerge from our current state of reorganization as a stronger company. This will allow us to produce a better, more vibrant, and exciting on-line experience, for all of you have who made us your choice in on-line entertainment.

Let me dispel any clouds of doubt that may have arisen due to our recent Chapter 11 restructuring filing. We are committed to maintaining -- and growing -- a core community. We will be here a long time; we know that Horizons is a game and an experience that will endure, the restructuring will assure that Horizons is available for the future. Our players are individuals who see the potential of what a massively multiplayer on-line game can be, and know that Horizons will continually grow to reach that potential. Our community is the key to our future success.

If you have not entered Horizons' world of Istaria recently, then I suggest you take another look. I think you will be very surprised and extremely pleased with what you see. And even more pleased by what the immediate future holds. More specifics on these plans can be found here.

Thank you again for playing and enjoying Horizons: Empire of Istaria. The future looks bright, and with your help, it will be.

David Bowman
