Freeworld: Magic is on its way into FreeWorld…yahooooo!!! - by Arwen

Like things that go bump in the night, only splashier...and noiser, magic is about to descend on us in FreeWorld. That's right...as eagerly as it has been anticipated, the word is in...magic is in the works for the next phase, so keep your eye here on FreeWorld Warcry, and I will let you know about it.

I asked Draconus (Clyde Bielss, head dev at FW) for some details about this FreeWorld magic. He informed me that you will be able to cast all the spells in game no matter what level you are. The spells will be on scrolls as you learn them; once you master them, they go into a book of spells. In keeping with all FW skills, however, you do have to train in your magic spell or risk the chance that it might not work when you cast it. Then, as you get closer to the level of the spell, it will be more effective and easier to cast.

I asked Drac if testers will be able to test soon or will it only be mods and devs. His reply was very exciting: "Mods and devs for now...and some of the website people, BUT when magic is added we will let a few testers in to try out all the bugs." Drac advises, if you want to apply to be a tester of magic before the release of the next phase, send an email to magic@mindsurge.net.
