If you took one look at the cost of a room at the Roundtable host hotel (MGM Grand) and choked on your Diet Vanilla Coke, fear not. Your intrepid and usually broke Herald weenie has compiled a handy list of cheap places to lay your weary head after you've spent the day with your nearest and dearest realm mates. Read on!
I have never been to Vegas, and in no way am I vouching for the following hotels. It's just that I did the annoying and boring research on the internet for you.
http://www.somerset-house.com/ - Cheap by Vegas standards. Check out the little map - it's not even that far from the Roundtable party! No casino on the premises, which might be nice for families wanting to make the trip.
Wild Wild West Gambling Hall - This place doesn't seem to have its own website, but when you click the "online reservation" button in the above link, it tosses up prices ranging from 70-80 a night. You'll need a taxi or a rental car to get to the roundtable, but it beats 350 a night.
http://www.vivalasvegasvillas.com - This link's worth a few minutes just to stare at the theme rooms. Goodness, people, they have a Camelot themed room. Yikes. But you can also find a normal room here for 75 a night. Nothing to not like about that.
http://www.super8lasvegas.com/ - It's a Super 8. No mystery there. 85 clams a night from that website, but I saw fifty bucks on one of the websites listed below.
Finally, don't forget Expedia, Orbitz, Hotels.com,etc. A brief hop around those sites popped up cheap flights and crash space, perfect for the last minute traveler who figured, hey, why not, it's the West Coast Roundtable.
