Asherons Call: New European Servers! Is one red?

| 16 Sep 2004 23:05

Ibn posted the initial introduction on Wednesday:

Now that the announcement has been made about our partnership with Jolt, we'd like to make some introductions. Soulshadow and Lawrence|Jolt, Executive Producers for the Turbine/Jolt project, and Shadowwing, Executive Producer - Events at Jolt, have joined our forums to help answer your questions about the Jolt side of things wherever possible, and just to get to know you all.

Both Turbine and Jolt are committed to this partnership, and we'll be
working together from here on out to bring our European players the best AC experience possible. The Jolt team's goal is, in a nutshell, to help you have more fun!

So please give Soulshadow, Lawrence|Jolt, and Shadowwing a warm welcome. Then deluge them with questions. Bear in mind, though, that they don't have all the answers yet, either.

Dangermouse asks:

Shadowwing - your in charge of Events. Does that mean more Live Ops events on Euro servers or events run in Euro timings?

Shadowwing replies:

Dangermouse, that is exactly what we are planning to do - lots and lots of events in Euro times

PartyVT posts:

Hallo Manfred Ungemach

Wird es auch deutschen Support geben, bzw ein eingedeutschtes Asherons Call?

Lawrence|Jolt replies:

Yes, we plan to provide german-speaking support. There will not be a german version of AC1 however. That's something both Turbine and Jolt would love to do, but unfortunately it's not possible, due to technical reasons.

Sweet Mary asks:

Will the CoC be the same on your servers?

Lawrence|Jolt replies:

Yes. There may be minor changes to the CoC to fit with european laws, but other than that, european servers will follow the same policies and procedures.

Rak -=KoC=- asks:

Will there be a PK server like DT on the Euro servers? If yes whats the ETA for the opening?

Lawrence|Jolt replies:

That depends on whether or not enough people would be interested in playing on such a server. We will be running surveys on a regular basis with european subscribers to gather feedback on various topics, including alternative servers. Based on this feedback and player numbers, we will be able to decide about setting up additional servers and services for our community.

Sharpy-SC asks:

how many servers do you intend to have, where will they be located and how many new players do you expect to see after the expansion pack goes live in 05?

Lawrence|Jolt replies:

The european servers will be located in our datacenter in London. I cannot tell you at this time how many servers we will provide initially. We will make an announcement about the amount and names of the european servers once this has been determined, so you guys can organize yourselves.

What I can tell you right now is that we will provide as many servers as needed. We will watch player numbers closely, to ensure that in case one or more servers become too crowded, we will always be able to add additional servers right away.
