Asherons Call: A Change In Guard At The Crossroads

Around seven months ago, I found myself suddenly promoted from Assistant Site Manager to Site Manager. The experience was quite often overwhelming but I cannot thank Warcry enough for allowing me the opportunity to manage Crossroads of Dereth. It has been a truly rewarding experience to work with such exceptionally talented and dedicated staff as we all strove together to strengthen WCoD's image within the community as the premier Asheron's Call news site. Together we worked hard to intuitively organize not only our menus menus but the five year old FTP site that most of Warcry's network coders refer to as an "attack by a killer bowl of noodles" as they run screaming away as fast as their little legs will carry them. (Yes, all network coders have little legs.)

Warcry's Crossroads of Dereth is my favorite site bar none and as such I believe that WCoD deserves a Site Manager who is as passionate and focused on AC as the rest of the Warcry Staff is about their respective games and sites. Unfortunately, despite all the incredible improvements that Turbine has made to AC in the last year, I've been playing Asheron's Call for nearly five years and my interest is at a low point. This is not a fair situation to the staff here at WCoD and it certainly isn't fair to all our loyal readers who provide us with vast quantities of valued information and important feedback.

So it is time for a change of guard at the Crossroads. But before I resign as AC Site Management, I want to take this opportunity as the Site Manager to say an official "Thank you!" to all the readers and to all my CoD teammates for the hard work on Crossroads of Dereth and within the Asheron's Call community. Thank you, readers and staff, for your interest in, dedication to and support of Warcry's Crossroads of Dereth. Before I go, though, I want you, our readers, to be aware of some of the people around here who have been pulling an incredible amount of weight in my time as CoD's ASM and SM: (My best three decisions as CoD Site management revolve around these three people.)

1) Ellen_Ripley
As the ASM I asked Deathspawner to help me hire Ellen_Ripley into working for CoD as a columnist because I'd heard that he knew her. (Deathspawner tricked her into it, for which I'm very grateful.) Later I convinced Ellen_Riply to accept the position of Assistant Site Manager. Ellen_Ripley is, quite simply, more dedicated to the Asheron's Call and the Asheron's Call community than any person I've ever met. She has energy and drive which is only restrained by her own meticulous nature. Pair those traits with her willingness and ability to delve into an FTP site that scares most professional coders and she's the perfect choice as for AC's new Site Manager. So Everyone give Ellen_Ripley a warm welcome as our new Site Manager! (Yes, Ellen, you've been tricked again.)
2) Roewin
I cannot stress enough how impressed I am by the improvements that have been made to the Quest Guide database since Roewin assumed leadership of the Quest Team. The improvements have been dramatic, often staggeringly so. I couldn't have imagined when I agreed to Roewin's request that such progress would be made so quickly but I am completely confident that under Roewin's leadership, the Quest Guide database will only continue to improve.
3) Delmar Wynn
The week that I assumed the SM position at CoD, the patchtree was vandalized by an unhappy member of staff. On that day, Delmar Wynn approached me with an offer to help with the Patchtree and has been working since as a coder. To expect anyone to be as patient as Delmar Wynn is with my constant requests for code changes to CoD and other sites would be silly. To actually think that a coder being paid only with a "Thanks!" might actually get to get all these requests completed goes from silly to insane. Yet Delmar has done specifically that, one successful code project after another with no payment other than a "Thanks" and the constant threat of yet another list of code requests.

In the meantime, if you see anyone from Crossroad of Dereth's staff ingame asking questions or trying to do a quest the be sure to say "thanks" for me and the rest of the Asheron's Call gaming community for all their hard work.

Thanks,
Sherry "Trai" Carty
