Asherons Call: Server maintenance -- further details

The goal of today's maintenance was to move Frostfell, Leafcull, Thistledown and Solclaim off of its current database cluster to newer hardware. In addition, we planned on making certain changes that are necessary for the upcoming Turbine billing launch.

The maintenance ran into a number of difficulties. Transferring the world databases took considerably longer than expected, such that we were only able to successfully transfer Frostfell and Leafcull to the new hardware. In addition, the necessary work for the billing launch could not be completed.

We had already planned on bringing the other five worlds -- Harvestgain, Verdantine, Darktide, Morninthaw, and Wintersebb -- down for two hours on the morning of Tuesday October 5th for the purpose of preparing them for the upcoming billing launch.

In addition to that work, we will also be moving Thistledown and Solclaim off onto the new database hardware and preparing all four of the worlds impacted today for the billing launch.

In summary, at 5:30AM PDT on Tuesday 10/5, all nine worlds will be brought down. All worlds other than Thistledown and Solclaim will be brought back up by 7:30AM PDT. TD and SC are expected to be back up by 12:30PM PDT.
