Alright, so maybe this Saturday was too soon, so I'm going to push it back some and change the name of it to "World Preview Pre-Chat". What we will mostly be discussing is what the game itself will be like, how to do the basic and more advanced things, and what professions and builds are good for pvp and pve. This will not just be a Warcry event, this will involve all of the Fansites in the Guild Wars community.
When will the World Preview Pre-Chat be?
Saturday October 23rd, 2004
What times will the chat be at?
7am - 9am PST
12:00 pm - 2:00 pm PST
5:00pm - 7:00pm PST
10:00pm - 12:00 am PST
Where will the chat be?
Currently we run our MIrc chat on a gamesurge server, but we will be moving it to chatspike due to the high server-spilts that gamesurge has when lots of people are in one place at a busy time and day. The exact location will be announced within the week.
Proceedure during the Chat:
1. Members of the Community will have to message their questions to the
designated Room Moderators.
2. If a Moderator feels that a question is valid and an important inquiry they will send it to the Head Moderator (whomever it is at the time), then they will pick the best questions and post them one at a time in the chat with the person's name who sent it.
3. Moderators that are currently involved in the Alpha test will petition to reply to these questions one at a time going into as much detail as needed to completely satisfy your desires for knowledge.
4. No topic will be discussed more than once, so if a question has been asked, then it will not be asked again, so make sure you arrive on time, or you will have to read the logs.
5. Any kind of offensive or insulting behavior towards any of the moderators will get you kicked firstly, then banned if you should continue.
6. Starting after about an hour and a half after the question portion of the chat (we expect the question portion to last longer than that (the estimated time we are planning is probably 2 hours for it) but we'll judge as we go) will be what I like to call "player suggestions". This is where we will ask the occupants of the room to please refrain from asking anymore questions, but rather begin to make suggestions when messaging the Moderators. This is where it becomes a bit tricky. Once the Head Moderator posts a suggestion in the chat room he/she will then give everyone the power to speak and discuss that one topic ONLY, should you stray from the topic you will have your voice removed till the next topic. This is where we ask that you do not spam the screen with text but rather type out a well thought out responce before posting. Each topic will have a 10 minute timeframe in which the players and Mods will be allowed to dicuss on it before everyone is silenced again and the next suggestion is posted.
7. Towards the last five minutes of the "designated chat time" (it could go longer than proposed, this just means towards the end where people start dwindling and the Mods are getting tired) will be the Open Forum. This is where you will get to ask any questions that might not have been answered or that were not explained to the extent you wanted it to be. The Mods will answer any questions that they see fit. This is also were you, the future players and community members of Guild Wars will get to discuss what has been said in the chat.
8. Only things that are currently implimented in the Alpha test can be discussed. No ideas that you've heard rumors about will be touched upon or even answered. Absolutely none of the Guild Wars story will be touched upon as we and ArenaNet surely don't want to ruin anything for you guys.
9. I know you are all very respectful people and have some very important questions, but we will not get to every single one of them, also if your question is similar to one that we have answered before it will most likely not be answered again. To make this easier on everyone a webpage will be uploaded and updated every time a question is asked. This will show people, especially those who are late, exactly what they shouldn't ask so they aren't wasting their time by asking something that we won't answer again.
10. There will be two channels set up for this chat. The first channel will be where you can message the designated Moderators your questions, this entire channel will be muted, and will be where the Moderators post their answers. The second channel will be unmuted for everyone so you, the community, may discuss the answers that you were given. The same rules about behavior apply to this room if not even stricter, please be respectful of others and enjoy the discussion. Don't flame, ridicule, make fun of, or do or say anything rude or disrespectful. Depending on the offense will the consequences be determined.
Those are the basic rules of the Wold Preview Pre-Chat.
There will also be different channels for different languages where people who only speak a certain language can join and ask questions of their Moderator who will then in turn translate and send the question to the Head Moderator. All of the questions and the answers will be taken from the main channel, translated, and shown to the people who are in the different language channels.
