Dear "Come Back to Camelot" Sweepstakes participant,

Congratulations! XXXXXXX Inc., the official sweepstakes administrator of the "Come Back to Camelot" Sweepstakes sponsored by Mythic Entertainment (www.mythicentertainment.com) is pleased to inform you that your entry has been selected as a potential winner!

Before we can send your prize, we need for you to tell us your mailing address. Please send an e-mail by Friday, October 15, 2004 to erica@XXXXX.com that includes the following information:
*Your first name
*Your last name
*Your street address
*Your city
*Your state
*Your postal code
*Your Dark Age of Camelot Account Name and Password
*Your date of birth (you must be at least 18 years old to win)

(snip)

A: Sigh. Well, the good news is that I am just tickled pink that you know that Mythic Entertainment does not ever ask for your password. Ever. And I'm even more thrilled to learn that you do indeed read the Camelot Herald, where I have repeatedly stated that only scam artists ask for your password.

The bad news is that there's always got to be one stupid exception, or my life would just be too easy. There's a chance that THIS one email is for real. I'm not sure why our independent judging organization would ask for your password, though I've left about six million voice mails all over the east coast trying to find out.

SO! If you received one of these emails, what I want you to do is nothing. Sit on it, don't get your hopes up just yet, and wait to hear something next week either from that nice lady who sent the first one, or from me here on ye old Herald.

Q: Are you still doing the list of new 50's?

A: Yes - but don't send them to the feedback forms! Go to the Community News section of the Herald, and use the "submit news" button on the title bar to tell us about your in game accomplishments. We also post guild events, wedding announcements, real life stories, and more. If you haven't been to the community page lately, you don't know what you're missing.

Q: I was wondering when Catacombs would be released. Also... is it a downloadable like NF, or do you have to buy it like SI?

A: We're due to launch Catacombs in December. And if it's December, it must be a retail expansion - an expansion that comes in a box purchased from a store. Our next free expansion's theme will be announced sometime after the new year dawns.

By the way, every expansion we're asked, nay, begged to sell the expansion as a download and additional copies as simple CD keys. I sure wish we could - as a consumer who finds that daylight burns, I infinitely prefer downloads and shopping online. However, our deal with our distributor totally precludes us from offering the annual retail expansion as a download or online CD keys. You all will be the first to know if that ever changes, I promise.

Q: I was looking into transferring my Skald to my 2nd account, and in reading the Herald information, it reads: "In order to perform the character transfer process, you will need a game client that has no characters stored on it. (You may use an existing account that you have deleted ALL characters from the server you're trying to split to.)...." But when I attempt the /charxfer command in game, it reads: "The new account the character(s) are moved to must have no characters on it on any server."

Can I have NO characters on the account on any server? Or just the server I am making the transfer on? Which information is correct, Herald or in game?

A: The in-game information is incorrect, and the Herald is right. Thanks for letting me know about the documentation error.

Q: Can we have a description of the Master Level Abilities on the Herald?

A: Our Miss Linda and her fabulous Team Leads have actually just finished writing and proofreading the Herald's documentation on those MLAs - watch the Herald next week!

Q: Why doesn't the "brain buff" affect piety for clerics/healers/etc? It gives benefits to players such as a valewalker so it's obviously not just for pure caster types.

A: From Balance Boy: "The concentration (or PBAE version) of the Acuity or "brain buff" is designed only to give benefits to list casters. List casters are defined as those who have their entire spell list available to them as opposed to other classes who only have their highest one or two spells available from each spell line. Another way to think of it is that Acuity buff only affects cloth casters. Valewalkers are a list caster and therefore receive the benefits from the buff."

At 11:00 PM EDT, which is 8:00 PM on the West Coast, G4TV will be airing footage from our Vegas Roundtable. Check your cable listings!

As most of you know, the beta sign up form is up. The first form was submitted exactly fourteen seconds after I hit "submit post." SECONDS. Y'all are insane.

Beta madness is consuming my desk, so please forgive the brevity of the bag.

Happy third birthday, and if I could personally thank all of you that remember launch day and are sitting around forges telling the tale, I would. Best... customers... ever! Thanks so much for three terrific years that I wouldn't trade for anything. Special shout outs to all the fan and news site still plugging along - you guys are the best, and every time I get to ranting, you always remind me why I'm here. Just, thanks :)

See you Monday, everybody.
