Here is the latest QotW from the Matrix Online Vault.
William Westwater, Director of Online Development at Monolith, answers our question about the credit cards required for completion of the MxO Beta registration process.
Q: One of the few news items which has leaked from The Matrix Online's closed beta is the fact the beta registration process requires a working credit card. Can you please clarify or elaborate upon the reason for which credit cards are required for the beta? This explanation might help the many players whose parents are currently wary of giving out their credit card number for this purpose.William - We request credit card information as part of the beta registration process in order to test our billing system. During the process, a $0.10 hold is put on the card to test the billing system and verify funds exist. Once registration is complete, the hold is voided. The user's credit card is never actually charged. However, since we are placing a hold on the account during the registration process, credit cards that are over their credit limit are rejected. This sometimes results in an inability for these users to register for the beta.
