Asherons Call: New Column: The Weekly Fork

It seems there's a new columnist in our midst! *round of applause* Hsoj promises to provide an interesting real-world perspective on his already exciting in-game exploits and adventures. In fact, he's already started us off with two full and very juicy columns!

I named my character Hsoj after an alias I use everywhere. It is simply my first name backwards; a written word, but just in case you care, I pronounce it "HUH sauge." So my character was made, I logged in to Holtburg and ran through the training dungeon slashing up straw drudges. While I was taking these initial steps, Seth tried giving me some basic tips about how skills were based on attributes and all other sorts of things. I don't consider myself a good listener so at this point the game mechanics were well over my head. Seth then gave me a mission to run to Cragstone while he went back to the living room to spend quality time with my sister, who was then still his girlfriend. The point of my mission was to eventually end up in Zaikhal where Seth kept his mules. He told me to kill a few drudges on the way, but I was too afraid of dieing...

She made a crossbow and I made a thrown weapon character in honor of my own guy on Morningthaw, Xearic. Eventually Lysa was able to buy the different physical styles of quarrels but all they have are the plain old atlatl darts in any vendor I could find. That (in addition to me-just-sucking) kept Lysa well ahead of my character in terms of power. We both got to around level 15 and went to bed, so when I logged back on Friday night, Lysa was ready to pick up where we left off. We did some hunting in the abandoned settlement near Holtburg. Lysa could tell you the name, it's just a stretch of road in the middle of nowhere with some houses that have things like Young Banderlings or Drudges inside...
