Star Wars Galaxies: So JTL is here, what does it mean?

| 31 Oct 2004 02:23

Ok slightly questionable title but intriguing, i'm not as philosophical as all that (well not in this case). This is the only way to begin, end and generally spend your weekend. With Warcry. So to the point.
The introduction of JTL has made a huge impact on the ground game : Fact. This is whether you've bought the expansion or not. THere is a huge influx of "noobs" to coin the phrase, which is remarkably refreshing. There is a sense of achievement and satisfaction when your an experienced player (but not a l33t one) and people are in awe of your skills.
Personally just last night I was workin a med centre (I'm a Master Doc but hey) when after a little innocuous banter I was challenged to a duel, so I pulled out a powerhammer (I'm Master Swordsman also btw) and the invitee suddenly retracted the duel request (in speech not in-game) saying "I didn't realise you had combat skills", ok not a good reflection on human nature but a reflection of how many new players there are around.
Also from a Doc perspective there are a huge amount of wounds coming from JTL, I haven't seen so many black bars since probably the previous October.
It does show a change. I personally have campaigned for more reasons for a doc to go back to a med centre and this helps, it's a beginning. One piece of a bigger puzzle. Combat is going to change along with many other things. This will happen JTL or not.
May the Devs continue on a path that we cannot yet see, ignore the iimmediate temporary fixes courtesy of whiners and head towards a bigger picture. I can see the corners of the jigsaw, will all the pieces fit? We'll see. I'm looking forward to it, and virtually living it!
In a galaxy far far away.....

P.S. this is a shortened version of my entire points but I didn't want to bore you poor reader. I may say more but give some Warcry board recognition.
