Asherons Call: Soapbox - How I Play, the Final Chapter

| 7 Feb 2003 12:48

Sounds like a Star Trek episode, doesn't it?

I'd actually thought we were done with this series until this morning when the neighbors woke me up at 4am. And as I lay there contemplating sleep I realized how much of my own play style has changed and perhaps I might have something to contribute. So, about 15 minutes ago I finished writing it. And as I write this intro I remember all that I left out - my one and only month of powerlevelling so a friend could swear to me (wow, I hated that), grinding every gem I found to raise my alchemy skill (not realizing some were worth 1k+ at a time I neeeded money), killing my very first umbris because its a persistant monster and a friend was kind enough to stand there and heal while I beat on it (for 10+ minutes) - but I hope I left a lot in, too. About how for me, the game was never about being a great killing machine but about being a great player. And for me that's always meant being me. Not Ophelea - that's the name I call my avatar. But, me, the person writing this. I wonder how many players are themselves...and how many are who they wish they were?
