The One That Got Away - Part 6
By Yojimbo
He had traveled to three different planets in two days gathering information. Since Yojimbo had contacted his operatives with the bio-signature for the Sith, the information had been flowing in like he wouldn't have believed. All paths led him towards Endor. Such a long flight and rough terrain. It was time to contact the Jedi, Ethyn. He activated his comlink and entered the numbers that Ethyn had given him.
"Hello Yojimbo, have you made any progress?" Ethyn said as he activated his end of the comlink.
"Yeah," Yojimbo replied," I found one of the Sith that you talked about. Almost had to fight him in Eisley. Says his name is Veth. I got a bio-sig and have tracked him to Endor."
"Very good. Things have changed a bit. This Veth had been personally responsible for the deaths of 3 more of our Jedi since you and I met. We want him dealt with. Go to Endor and gather as much information as you can about this Sith, and his allies."
"Yeah yeah, will do. Errand boy out." Yojimbo said sarcastically as he flipped his com shut. With that, Yojimbo hefted his pack, took a deep breath, and headed towards the nearest starport, grumbling about Jedi, Sith, and Ewoks.
If you ask a seasoned explorer or ranger what the worst thing about Endor is, they'll tell you that it's the bugs. Swarms of tiny black gnat type bugs that will engulf you, filling your eyes, nose and throat if you don't have on the correct bio-engineered repellant. Yojimbo had stocked up before leaving, but wasn't sure he had bought enough. The bugs swarmed about eight feet from him, just out of range from the fatal fumes of the repellant. He had narrowed down his search to the Southwestern corner of the main continent on Endor, and was closing on the spot that his droids told him this Sith was located. As he closed in on the beacon he heard voices. One of the voices he recognized as his target, Veth, but the other was a new voice. As he peered through the thick Endorian brush he saw three figures in the firelight night. Two of the figures stood over one, who was on his knees on the ground.
"Your order has failed you Jedi," Veth said, "and you will now die. With that Veth drew out his lightsaber and raised it up to end the Jedi. Yojimbo's mind went into overdrive. He knew that he could not let this Jedi die, but from this range he had little chance of putting off a well placed shot. Yojimbo the remembered the syringe that he kept in his pack, it had been given to him long ago. Some sort of serum that the Empire and the Alliance had raced to get, it was supposed to give you super humanoid accuracy.
"Well," he thought, "no time like the present" With that he slammed the needle into his arm and leveled his carbine. Just as Veths lightsaber came down, a laser bolt from Yojimbo's laser carbine blasted it from his hand, as another struck him in the leg, knocking him to the ground. As Yoimbo sprinted towards the fallen Sith to finish him off, Veth rose and using his force powers flung the laser carbine from Yojimbos hands and into a nearby pile of brush. The two entered fierce hand to hand combat, both landing devastating blows. After a few moments Veth seemed to think that Yojimbo may get the best of him, and signaled for his partner to join the fray. Seeing this, Yojimbo kicked Veth away from him, turned and swept the legs from under the other Sith, and headed for his Swoop bike. On his way he grabbed the badly beaten Jedi and pulled him onto the bike. As he rode away the last thing he heard from Veth was a furious scream.
"We shall meet again Bounty Hunter!! And the next time you won't be so lucky!!"
Yojimbo rode off into the Endorian forests knowing that the Sith was right about meeting again, and wondered if he was also right about Yojimbo's luck.
