World Of Warcraft: My Cheating Heart II

| 6 Dec 2004 18:37

I am a die hard Final Fantasy fan I really am, since
the day I played Final Fantasy 1 I knew I found
something special. And when I heard it was going
online some 13 years later I was estatic. I was so
anxious I imported, and played beta, and then when the
US release came out started again and leveled to 75 as
fast as I could. Yup I stated multiple times I was going
to play FFXI for life, WoW didn't look impressive, and
I couldn't even imagine what life after FFXI would look
like.

Then, my linkshell broke up, I was bored of leveling,
tried playing console games (mainly Final Fantasy
Crystal Chronicles) and read a review about WoW...
after all a few of my friends went to World of
Warcraft. I was impressed with what I read, but kind of
let it be. The next day I am at my friends house who
I play FFXI with... we log on and see a total of 5
people on in our Linkshell, and I blurted out with out
another thought.... Forget it lets go buy WoW. An
hour later I am a Night Elf Priest just finding out
how evolved MMORPG's have become.

Now I played EQ, and FFXI but WoW brings something to
the table I've not seen yet. WoW feels like they put
the players enjoyment first. I have yet to do a quest
that seemed to be a grueling task. Its fast paced
fun. Leveling doesn't even seem half as bad as most
of my EXP came from doing quests or killing monsters
from quests. The first thought Cartoonish graphics
really grow on you and the scenery looks just awesome.
Most importantly the game can be fun no matter how
long you play, cause even if you have 30 minutes to
play that day you can still get yourself involved.

World of Warcraft has completely changed the MMORPG
dynamic. I suspect just as EverQuest had set a
standard for MMORPG's at its release, Warcraft has
thrown that right out the window and proclaimed "this is
how an MMORPG is supposed to be.... fun!" So just
remember, when your camping a trigger item... resting
to regain your HP or MP, or even searching for a Raise
or RES and can't take it anymore, there is a home for
you in the World of Warcraft!
