Asherons Call: Soapbox - What I've Learned While Playing Asheron's Call, Part 3

| 21 Feb 2003 15:59

I've heard it said that the anonymity of MMO's makes it possible for the "evil" side of a person to come out. For them to act in ways they never would in real life because of fear of retribution.

But, and I'm sorry to stereotype so many of us but it makes the point, if so many of us were comfortable in large social situations we wouldn't be at home on our computers playing a game - with a bunch of other people. So, I think the converse is true as well. The anonymity gives us the chance to be the gregarious, "loud" person we want to be in real life.

Tim the Foolish, the author of today's Soapbox, appaears to think so as well. But then, Tim has never struck me as needed anonymity to be "loud".

*shakes head - never visited the dires*
