Dungeons And Dragons Online: DDO News: Devspotting

A few smaller posts of interest today. The first one deals with item restrictions, especially in regards to twinking:

Thus, we're going to be taking some measures to prevent and/or strongly discourage players from owning or using equipment that is way too powerful for their level. One of these options is a minimum level requirement to use an item -- this was used in NWN, and it was pretty successful, IMO. However, we haven't made a final decision yet, and there are definitely other options that we're considering.

You can see what else Xundau had to say here.

The second thread discussing Pirates, Zombies, and Ninjas... well, that and where the dev teams pulls their inspiration from.

Our relationship with Wizards also gives us access to a lot of material before it's published. For instance, we had an early version of the Eberron Campaign Setting almost a year before it hit the streets.

All of that being said, our primary sourcebooks are considered the PHB, DMG, Monster Manual, and Eberron Campaign Setting -- most of the content in DDO is drawn from these four books.

And for references, pirates are a go, ninjas are not likely, and zombies, of course, are in. Players being pirates is undecided... interesting. Check that thread out here.

Finally, Xundau confirms that there is an official newsletter in the works, and it'll be available "soon." You can see that post here.
