Asherons Call: QotD - Should Code Be Placed in Game to Help 3rd Party Apps

| 7 Mar 2003 17:13

Regardless of how you feel about 3rd Party Applications, they're here. Even the most staunch opponent of them knows that. There's always been three ways to handle it. 1) Try and make them against the CoC and then enforce it - something difficult and costly and decided against years ago. 2) Let them be and deal with them as they come - the path chosen by MS to date.

Or a third choice - Specifically create program extensions to help certain Decal functions (like inventory management, id'ing) easier and more robust, thereby reducing the introduction of harmful or just annoying code that causes lag, game crashes, etc.

The question is, should they?
