New items, creatures and locations seem to be discovered and re-discovered upon Dereth with such a frequency that the appearance of a new shield, weapon or type of drudge are often events seen as commonplace, as normal. Not always, however - the discovery of an Abandoned Armory on the southern landbridge has sparked more debate in the taverns and inns of our towns than anything in recent memory, apart from perhaps the public appearance and later destruction of Gaerlan.

The source of the debate? Contained within the depths of the Armory can be found a Deteriorated Aegis - a shield with a remarkable similarity to those once carried by Elysa Strathelar's Order of Advocates. Though these shields have lost their luminosity and combat-worthiness, Leandra, the alchemist of Martine's Retreat, has discovered a process whereby these shields can be infused with chorizite, restoring their luminosity and converting the shield into one capable of absorbing damage from magical attacks.

Whilst the debate over this shield and its history rages on in houses both public and private, Aesa of our Quest Team has been busy researching the method of acquisition of this unusual item, for inclusion in our Quest Compendium. The end product - detailed notes and instructions on obtaining both the shield and the chorizite formula, and details on the application of one to the other to produce the Sanguinary Aegis - are now available for public view!
