As has been recorded in the chronicles, during the month of Thistledown, Portal Year 12, the renegade Virindi of the New Singularity began experimenting with better imitations of the human form, Simulacra. These new troops have been seen elsewhere since then - most notably in the dungeons and locations controlled or influenced by Candeth Martine - but were originally only found in the Northern and Southern Infiltrator Dungeons and The Asteliary.
There are three Virindi installations known to the Arcanum as the original Sources of the Simulacra - the Northern and Southern Infiltrator Keeps, and the Asteliary. Sundancer, after a short stop in the Ziakhal tavern, recently took it upon himself to investigate the Northern Keep. It seems Ghazi al-Barbazin, proprieter of said tavern, is either capable of amazing feats of emotive and persuasive writing in the penning of his notes and rumours, or serves such appalling ale that invading a Virindi stronghold is preferable to staying to drink up.
Whichever the answer, the end result is a complete overhaul to our Sources of the Simulacra: The Northern Keep quest writeup, where the Shield of the Simulacra can be found. As it boosts both a users Coordination and Strength, many of the younger melee warriors of Dereth have found this shield to be a very useful boon - especially as it with grow with the abilities of the wearer, with the Imbuing Gem found in the depths of The Asteliary!
As you may have noticed, the names for our writeups for this group of quests have been changed to more accurately reflect the close links between them. Remember, the Quest Compendium is now fully searchable and sortable (click the arrows by a column name), making it easier to locate a specific quest or quest item from the large multitude in Dereth!
