City Of Heroes: PCC Arena Rumble Feedback

| 21 Apr 2005 14:15

CuppaJo and Valdermic stopped by the Official City of Heroes boards to post a little feedback from the Arena Rumble last night. Here's what they had to say:

A little feedback from this end -

I actually wasn't typing in everything by hand - I wanted to go slow so everyone got the info they needed. I only went by hand when things changed suddenly.

We spread out the level count so that we could get equal distribution on each arena zone. This was one of our testing priorities. Unfortunately, most people chose their higher level characters for the battles and we ended up with a larger group of 40+ than the lower levels. Since I had posted who the staffers were that were going to be running the events and their levels - SGs filled up fast and early. This resulted in some high level players being unable to participate - but some just logged on as alts and had fun anyway. We appreciate the flexibility and apologize to those who did not have alts to switch to.

We also had limited manpower for the event and wanted to make sure every level of hero had a chance at a reasonably even level match. Some of the feedback from prior events was that the level spread was so diverse that the low levels spent most of the time taking dirt naps. We wanted everyone to actually have an experience of fighting in a battle - not just watching themselves face down.

Finally - this was about load testing more so than power testing/AT testing. We gathered tons of valuable information about this and about the SG matches involving over 65 people on each side which were some of the more problematic events.

Again - Thanks to all the heroes that participated, thanks to all the staffers for working late to help out, and to all the heroic volunteers - we salute you!

Valdermic had this to say:

Thanks everyone. We gathered some great data as a result of your help. Thanks to everyone for all your help. At one point there were 960 players and 12 of us. Sometimes we miss /tells, sometimes we don't see questions and these things can take a while to get rollin. All in all it was fun and I hope you enjoyed it aswell. We found a couple of things we thought were fixed and a couple of things we didn't know were broken. I'd call that a successfull event. It not easy trying to organize a 150 person match. Thanks for being patient.

Cya again soon
