City Of Heroes: Weekend News Wrap Up

| 2 May 2005 17:52

Hello gang. I was off Friday and wasn't able to post any news so I am a little behind as to what has been happening since Thursday. For anyone that does not already know, a free respec has been given by the dev team to go along with the 1 Year Anniversary Celebration. If you still had a holiday respec saved up, it will replace that respec. If you had a saved respec from a respec Task Force it will not replace that. You will have two so no worries.

There was another SG vs SG Battle on Test the other day with Valdermic and CuppaJo. Cuppa stopped by the Official City of Heroes forums to pass this message along to everyone:

Thanks to everyone that participated.

As I stated before the matches, the purpose was to test 65 vs 65 SG battles for a crashing bug mainly, and as a side to get feedback from other bugs. This is part of why the event was not announced - but rather just kind of a pick up test event.

We got some great feedback and data on the issues we were testing.

As far as the level issue goes - If this had been to test powerset effectiveness or balance we would have restricted the levels - but as it was it was to test sheer numbers and other bugs that had no relation to levels. SG vs SG battles do not have the auto-leveling feature that other events do.

Some people don't like SG vs SG - however - I would guess that they will be more popular on live when people play with their own SGs and not a pick up SG. Then they will have time to work out strategy ahead of time and will be familiar with working together. Because of this - I doubt the level spread will be an issue on live as strategies will be developed for incorporating lower level heroes or the level spread in the SGs will not be as high.

The other matches do auto-level heroes - however - I realize that there have been reports that even exemped down heroes still have an advantage due to enhancements. This has been reported for investigation.

Again - thanks for the feedback and bug reports!

Here's the Thread

It looks like there might be a new badge in the works. It was suggested that a badge be awarded for getting 200+ badges. Positron and Cuppa both agreed that the name might be called the Trailblazer Badge as suggested by Magnus_Star, a player from the City of Heroes Community.

Positron mentioned:

I'll try to get a 200 badge for you guys into Issue 5.

CuppaJo commented on the Trailblazer name:

Awesome!

And Positron seconded the motion:

Well, who am I to deny the mighty CuppaJo. Trailblazer it will be.

Here's that Thread

I'll update everyone if I hear anything new. Stay frosty and I'll see you in game.
