Here is the TRUTH:
When you open the launchpad and enter your user name and password and proceed to the Character Selection / Creation Screen you are still only in the login server, when you create a toon you are in the login server, when you select a toon and click next then you get the message Connecting To Galaxy the Galaxy is located on the actual server. If at any time like during a major publish the internal galaxies are disconnected from the login server you will see your toons with nothing until you login to the galaxy when you login you will notice that all your items are still in tact and actually never went anywhere.
With that said there is the very slim chance somthing might have been missing or lost so here is the sure fire way to get the best assistance possible if you do for that slim chance loose an item during a server upgrade.
If you have items that you deem valuable like Bounty Hunter Armour or RIS Armour notice each piece has a serial number - write these down, every item in star wars galaxies has it's own unique serial number and if such an item goes missing try the following:
File a ticket in the holicron by using CTRL+H
Click the Custome Service tab on the bottom left
In the Knowlegde Base Search type Missing Items
You will get many responses so find the one that best suits your situation and double click it.
Read down to see if this is a known issue and if there is a way to get it corrected, if not, on the bottom of the info you just read there is an option to just let me create a ticket.

NOTE:Many players just stick things like missing items in the I'm Stuck category but unfortunatly for these people this is an issue a newly employed CSR can assist with moving a stuck player and when they arrive to unstick you and find out the ticket is for missing items they do not have the knowledge or ability to replace or investigate, you get a reply to the best of THEIR ability and this could upset you but remember you were not stuck you were under supposed to file a ticket fro missing items under Player Character and then Missing Items which at times will require a higher level CSR or CSR Team Lead.
If you filed your ticket under this correct section use this following method when entering info while creating the ticket;
Use the category Player Character sub category Missing Items
1) State your Station Name - NEVER PASSWORD
2) State toons name
3) State toons galaxy
4) Time and date you noticed items missing
5) Serial Numbers of Missing Items
6) Usual times you are in-game
7) Give a detailed decription of the items you are missing including the Waypoint you were at when you noticed them missing as well as if they are from a house give the waypoint of where the items were.
NOTE Tickets are answered on a first submitted first handled queue system and, getting a response may take some time, if your ticket is viewed by a CSR that is not qualified to handle your issue or if your issue requires a higher level of support it may me moved to 2nd level support for a reply.
Please remember the more info we can provide to the CSRs the easier it is for these items to be tracked in the game system and the faster we can get a reply.
