World Of Warcraft: University of Illinois Reasearch Survey Needs You!

What is the study about?
It's an opinion survey. We are interested in the opinions of gamers, and
have decided to use entire guilds from within Blizzard's World of Warcraft
MMORPG.

What will I need to do?
Two things:
1) You will be asked to complete three short surveys over the course of a
month. Each will take about 20-25 minutes.
2) Some of the guilds will be selected at random to receive free headset
microphones and free access to voice software and servers that will enable
you to talk with your guildmates (rather than just type). We will mail you
the hardware and give you instructions, passwords and access to the voice
servers. If your group is chosen, we will ask that you try out the system for
one month, playing no more or less that you would have already. If your
group isn't chosen, you just do the surveys.

What do I get for participating?
If you complete all three short surveys, we will mail you $10. If all of your
guildmates complete the survey, we will increase this to $20. Everyone,
whether they get the headset mics or not, will be paid for participating.

What's the catch?
Three things:
#1: You can't currently be using voice systems to play WoW. We only want
first-timers. If you have used voice systems in other games, but never in
WoW, that's OK.
#2: Every active member of your guild needs to complete the first survey
(see below) for you to get started.
#3: Mac users are not eligible.

How do I sign up?
We need you to do some brief organization to get going. Your guild leader
or representative needs to send an email to gamestudy@uiuc.edu with the
following information: The name of your guild and an email for each active
player in the guild (players who play once a week or less can be excluded
at your discretion). Each player's character name also needs to be given. In
the case of someone who plays one character and "alts," please provide all
of the character names that go with the player.
Ideally, we are looking for a guild with 8-15 active members (regardless of
how many alts they play) to take part in the study. If your guild is bigger,
but there are really only 8-15 active members, that's OK.
So rally your members, send us an email and we will get you started!

Who is doing this study?
The study is being run by researchers at the University of Illinois at
Urbana-Champaign.
