Dungeons And Dragons Online: DDO News: Alpha/Beta Status Updates

| 29 Jun 2005 23:55

Nope, no date yet, but a few little interesting status updates from Sporkfire. The first can be found here. It says:

As for the status of Beta, obviously we have not announced its opening yet. But assure you that when we do, we'll be so loud about it that you can't miss it. Things in Alpha are going well. Issues are being uncovered, which is exactly what this phase is for. It's based out of that though that we get a more realistic project of when this game will be ready for public consumption (and game companies' first estimate on that is never right).

Sounds like things are progressing nicely. I'm sure we all can't wait until we get our crack at it. A second post is available to clear up some confusion on the naming of the phases, in this post Sporkfire says:

The game is really shaping up, and so it may be more appopriate to actually call it Beta by that point. As of right now, we are still calling the first public phase Alpha and don't plan on changing that. But it could be that we are confident enough to start referring to it as Beta.

And that's all we know for now, except for this, which merely says nobody from the public at large is in the alpha yet, just Turbine/WotC/Atari folks.
