Sporkfire delves into the appearance of Warforged characters briefly to tell us:

Warforged do not have armor in the same sense that a character has armor, since it is inherent. However, they do have docents, which are components that they can equip to grant them special abilities, similar to the special abilities an organic race might get from armor (though docents do not affect the warforged's Armor Class). These will add new visible features and geometry across the warforged's body.
