Asherons Call: AC Discussions: Is 'rare', rare enough?

While I personally am pretty sure I'll never discover a rare on my main, [ I'm convinced she has an anti-cool-loot flag ] there are reports of people finding rare after rare in only a short matter of hunting. The rare gems were not intended to be all that hard to find, since they are one-use-only, but they're dropping at about the same rate as majors lately and it begs the question, are they rare enough? And what about the rare armor and weapons? Once you find one, you either use it or auction it, and over time, they'll be about as popular as a shard, found on a tradebot for mere pyreals. While there will always be a market for some of the rare items, mostly war buff, magic d buff, melee d buff, etc. there's going to be a huge overflow of creature assessment buff rares, spear rares, thrown weapon rares and other unappreciated aspects of Dereth.

This begs the question as to their long term worth and usefulness.
