Lots of rumors were floating around about the release date of DDO and Atari's financial status, Sporkfire posted some details concerning this:
Hey Folks,
I just wanted to stop in and talk a little bit about some of the news that has hit the gaming press over the past couple of days. Rather than try and respond to each thread, let's use this as the summary and Q&A for what we have learned in the past two days.
1. Dungeons & Dragons Online: Stormreach will be released in Q1 2006
Consider this your official confirmation that the game will, indeed, ship first quarter of next year. This will allow us sufficient Alpha/Beta time to evaluate feedback and respond appropriately and ultimately ship a great game. It's all for the greater good.
2. Atari's Financial Status
There is another press release regarding Atari's financial status. We are not spokespeople for Atari, so if you have questions on that subject itself, it is better to raise it to Atari reps. As this relates to us, our release date was not and will not be affected by this news. We're developing the game pretty independently (not only on the actual product development, but also on funding), which gives us quite a bit of control over the course we take in putting the game on shelves. So, no worries there.
3. Alpha - May as well let you know how it is going
There are people in and we're taking feedback. We had already decided to move the release date, and we're going to make sure and use every minute of that extra time to look at what the public has to say when playing. Soon, we'll be posting updates and screens that come out of Alpha so you can live vicariously through the people who are in right now.
Hope that answers some questions. Feel free to ask any others that are related in this thread, or ask for clarification on anything above.
