Dungeons And Dragons Online: DDO News: "Mana" and Potions

| 22 Aug 2005 21:36

A little bit of a stir was created after one of the GenCon articles mentioned mana and the possibility of potions to refresh spell points. Samera steps in to clarify a bit:

Mana, as a concept, is not a part of Dungeons & Dragons Online: Stormreach. I wasn't at GenCon, and can't say definitively, but the spell points system was probably compared to mana during a floor conversation, and the word "mana" was then used for the article. ...

I do want to clarify that any potions that increase a person's spell points for the day will be extremely rare as well as limited in their use per adventure. Despite modification, we are working to preserve the spirit of the D&D rest mechanic. We are not planning on having a situation where you can carry 20 potions in your backpack at all times and can drink them one after another endlessly.

Follow this link for the full post. At first glance, it does appear pretty easy to confuse mana and spell points, but it is good to see they're limiting the use of potions.
