Asherons Call: Decal Press Release

The first announcement on this front is that the primary point of communication will now be the "Decal ToD Development Forum" at http://forums.acdev.org/. We greatly appreciate the accommodation that the VNBoards has given us and our stickies, and many of us will still be posting there. This move is solely to ensure it's easier for us to release coherent information, easier for developers to find it and to encourage a more technical level of discussion.

We're also updating the Decal code of Ethics (in the very near future, probably a day or two) to reflect the modern state of thinking. Comments on this document are always appreciated - it reflects what we believe to be the average "will" of the community. If we're grossly wrong, then we'd ask the community to help us fix it.

You might have noticed that "The Voice of Decal" has written both this post and the ethics document. No, the project has not become sentient and struck out into the world - "The Voice of Decal" is purely an avatar for making official announcements, and it speaks with the collective authority of all current developers. In the past, individuals have made posts in their areas of expertise, which has caused anything they say to be interpreted as the "official position" of the all developers. To allow us (developers) all more latitude in our private postings, from now on "The Voice" will be the canonical source and anything not posted by it should be taken with a grain of salt.
