WarCraft History
Ten thousand years ago the Night Elves emerged in Kalimdor. Throughout their existence they have meddled with primitive magiks, but not always with great success; in fact, through their attempts they accidentally let loose the demonic Burning Legion upon the world of Azeroth. The result is a massive war between the Night Elves and burning demons that ultimately destroys much of Kalimdor. Although the Burning Legion was eventually too much for the Elves to overcome, enough survived to vow never again to use the ancient magik.
Four thousand years later, a rogue band of Night Elves is banished from Kalimdor. They travel to the newly formed Eastern lands where they find the kingdom of Quel'Thalas. Although the now refer to themselves as High Elves, they are not so far removed that they can avoid constant skirmishes and raids by the Troll warbands.
Several thousand years pass, as the Human Empire if Arathor is developing in Lordaeron, the High Elves find themselves on the verge of losing everything to the Trolls. In a last ditch fight for survival, they agree to ally with the Humans and teach them magik in exchange for help against the Trolls. The combined army of Humans and Elves easily fend off and even destroy most of the Trolls.
However, a price was to be paid. The Humans show little respect for the magiks they have learned, and once again the Burning Legion are attracted to Azeroth. The Order of Tirisfal is founded several years later. They become the guardians of the world against the Legion, although their Order is shrouded in secrecy and the general population knows nothing of them.
Although they are eventually banished from Azeroth as the Order of Tirisfal does its job, the Burning Legion are able to corrupt the Orcish clans on the world of Draenor. A once noble, shamanistic Orc society is quickly transformed into a vicious Horde, ruled by the malevolent Shadow Council.
The Horde will shortly invade Azeroth as the Dark Portal is opened. So begins WarCraft: Orcs and Humans.
WarCraft: Orcs and Humans
After five grueling years of attrition, the Horde finally conquers the nations of Azeroth and Khaz Modan and claims Blackrock Spire as its base of operations.
Lord Lothar leads an exodus of refugees to the northern nation of Lordaeron. Once there, he convinces the leaders of the seven human nations to unite in arms against the Horde. The separate nations of the Arathorian empire are reunited as the Alliance of Lordaeron.
WarCraft II: Tides of Darkness
Orgrim Doomhammer, the Warchief of the Horde, launches his mighty fleets to invade the shores of Lordaeron. The unstoppable Horde pushes its way into the heartland of Lordaeron and succeeds in destroying the High Elves' ancient kingdom of Quel'Thalas.
The Alliance forces push back, but Lord Lothar is killed during the siege of Blackrock Spire. Spurred by the death of their beloved leader, the Alliance armies crush Blackrock Spire and push the Horde back to the threshold of the Dark Portal.
The Dark Portal is destroyed and the Horde is defeated.
The renegade Orcs are rounded up and placed into internment camps by the Alliance.
Warcraft II: Beyond the Dark Portal
The ancient Orc Shaman, Ner'zhul, rallies the few clans still left on Draenor and reopens the Dark Portal. He orders his clans to steal a number of artifacts from Azeroth that will allow him to open multiple Portals in Draenor.
The Alliance sends its armies, led by the wizard Khadgar, through the Dark Portal in order to stop Ner'zhul's schemes. The two armies clash throughout the hellish world of Draenor for months.
Empowered by the stolen artifacts, Ner'zhul opens a number of Portals in Draenor. Yet, before he can lead his clans through them, their energies spiral out of control and begin to destroy the very fabric of that world. The Alliance heroes, knowing that they would be trapped forever, are forced to destroy the Dark Portal so that Azeroth is not consumed by the raging energies.
The blasted world of Draenor tears itself apart. The Alliance grows uneasy as the Orcish internment camps are reopened. Only a few, scattered Orc clans evade the Alliance's wrath and eke out a living in the harsh wilderness.
Thrall, a young Orc raised as a Human slave and gladiator, escapes from bondage and sets off on a quest to discover his stolen heritage. Thrall succeeds in reuniting a number of renegade Orc clans and leads them in revolt against the Alliance Regional Wardens.
With the threat of a new Horde looming over them, the Alliance nations begin to bicker and quarrel. Tensions run high amongst the Human leaders.
Thrall's Tale: Lord of the Clans
Thrall becomes the new Warchief of the Horde and helps to reintroduce his people to their abandoned shamanistic culture. The reinvigorated Horde finally begins to lose the last traces of the Legion's demonic corruption.
Civil strife rages through the nations of the Alliance as threat of a new, unseen foe draws near - The Burning Legion has returned...and so begins WarCraft III: Reign of Chaos.
WarCraft III
Many years after the Dark Portal that bound the Orcish homeland of Draenor and the Human world of Azeroth was destroyed, a young Orc named Thrall was captured and raised as a slave by humans who followed the ways of treachery rather than those of honor. Using the skills driven into him by his captors with his own natural strength and courage, Thrall escaped his wicked masters and, once free, set out to find his stolen heritage. Finding his kind forced to live passively in controlled settlements, the young warrior sought out the few, scattered Orc clans that managed to evade the wrath of the Alliance. From their camps in the harsh wilderness, Thrall swore to lead his brothers back to the status their heritage demanded. Under Thrall's leadership as the new Warchief of the Horde, the Orcs rediscover their abandoned Shamanistic culture and use this newfound power to revolt against their cruel wardens.
As civil strife rages through the nations of the Alliance, the lands of Azeroth undergo strange changes, and the threat of a new, unseen foe draws near. Finally, in an unholy firestorm from the heavens, the Burning Legion arrives. Cursed to roam the greater realms forever to consume the primal energies of magic to survive, the Legion has ravished world after world in its mad lust for arcane power. Cunning, sinister and seemingly unstoppable, these dark slayers come to not only drain this domain of its magic, but to eradicate all life within it, as well. Now, in the face of an even greater invasion, the reunited Horde and the armies of Azeroth have shifted their focus from conquest, betrayal, defense or honor to that of basic survival...
World of WarCraft
Four years have passed since the aftermath of Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos, and a great tension smolders throughout the ravaged world of Azeroth. As the battle-worn races begin to rebuild their shattered kingdoms, new threats, both ancient and ominous, arise to plague the world once again.
