Dungeons And Dragons Online: GamerGod DDO GenCon Coverage

| 13 Sep 2005 23:11

Slowly but surely, we reap more goodness from the depths of GenCon. This time, GamerGod treats us to a Q&A session with David Eckelberry and Alex Rodberg. Topics vary from instancing to the moments of advancement we'll all surely come to love.

Grimwell:
DDO will be an instance-driven game, with players gathering in the city to rally before an adventure. How is Turbine planning to serve (hardware) this to prevent lag due to overcrowding during primetime?

Alex:
Stormreach is the biggest city ever seen in an MMO to date. It has 7 wards, each of which is larger than any previous city in a MMO. There is a lot of content in each ward for adventures, and there will be multiple iterations of all the wards on each server. Our servers and network architecture are state-of-the-art and specifically designed to handle this play model.
