Star Wars Galaxies: Downoadable Version of Beta 3?!?!

Could it be true... Well yes, infact in can be. Q-3PO stopped by the forums to tell us that in fact, beta testers might be able to download the new beta software.

Beta invites go through the same process as usual. If you are one of the lucky 'few', you'll receive an invite in your e-mail box.

Do I have to purchase the disks still?
Yes. The downloadable version is not going to be available all the time and in fact, may not be available indefinitely. It's not fair to those who had/will have no choice but to purchase the disks if other people can download for free. We want everyone to have copies of the disks in case they need to reinstall at some point and the download isn't available.

Isn't the game, like, huge? Can you really have thousands of people downloading it at once?
Yes. Maybe. Did I mention that we are experimenting with this and it may not be available throughout Beta 3.

Didn't you say before that a downloadable version of the beta wouldn't be possible?
Yes, I've also said before that "things change". We have PlanetSide and EverQuest Legacy of Ykesha to thank for pioneering some download issues for SOE.

Um, no. The patcher won'tdo you any good if you don't have a beta account key. Have fun looking at the "Please insert Account Key" page.

Does this mean the released game will be available for download?
There are no plans for that at this time.
