Asherons Call: "Confessions of an RPG Addict"

| 19 Apr 2003 22:23

One of the problems in the world of MMORPGs today is that there are so many to choose from and so few players to play them. A player base of 20,000 is considered successful and will support a game for years. 200,000 is AMAZING, and passing the 1,000,000 mark only happens rarely and is gold. BTW, as far as I know only Lineage and Ultima Online have done that - and they're two originals.

But, there are a LOT of single-player RPGers out there. They stubbornly (or wisely if you consider the addiction) defy the trend to come over. But, for how much longer?

On PC Gamer, Steve Klett talks about his resistance to MMO's, his one try at them (the poor deer) and why its only a matter of time.
