Star Wars Galaxies: SWG 2 for the X-Box / PC / PS2 ? *UPDATED*

| 10 Jan 2006 21:05

I asked my contact with Lucas Arts to please make a statemnt to the following question and I was quite surprised to get the answer to this question seeing how many claim to know all the background details about Star Wars Galaxies.

Q: Many of times it has been seen since the launch of the NGE that the game was not Star Warsy and a few times it was stated that this was not the original design intention for the game. My question is when word of the original launch of SWG was set for Novenmber 2002 many sites like Gamining Illustrated
http://www.gamingillustrated.com/galaxies2pre.php, and X-Box Magazine had this game listed as it was set for release for PC / X-BOX / PS2 and being published by Lucas Arts. Is there any intention or thought of bringing the current game of SWG to the home console at anytime in the future? If so how does Lucas Arts feel this would impact the current community and player base?

A: "At one time in the past there were plans to possibly bring a version of Galaxies to the PlayStation®2 and Xbox™ consoles. However, those plans have long since been cancelled, but still appear as SKU's on several websites and records. Additionally, the myth that SOE and LucasArts are "consolizing" the current Galaxies to bring it to the current generation of consoles is nothing more than that - a myth."

When it was brought to the attention of LucasArts that WalMart USA is selling pre-Orders for "
Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided (Console): Prima Official Strategy Guide, Prima Development, Paperback, Random House Inc, 2004, ISBN# 0761542272
Paperback", and they were asked for a clairification the response was "I'm sorry Robert, I'm not commenting on this any further."

So what exactly is going on I am unsure, 9 chances out of 10 when they do not comment on a topic it is not to thier favour so I will leave the question open for Lucas Arts.

It has been stated that "At one time in the past there were plans to possibly bring a version of Galaxies to the PlayStation®2 and Xbox™ consoles. However, those plans have long since been cancelled, but still appear as SKU's on several websites and records. Additionally, the myth that SOE and LucasArts are "consolizing" the current Galaxies to bring it to the current generation of consoles is nothing more than that - a myth." If this is so where does a company get teh authority to take pre-orders for guides that have all the details set for public comsumption and priced for sale unless someone gave them the authorization or else this publishing company did this illegal without prior consent from the leagal owner of Star Wars Galaxies. Could the players please get some type of responce to exaclty what the deal is here and who is cheating who?

LucasArts the ball is now in your court!
