Freeworld: Q&A Regarding Next Phase!

I have had a bunch of questions come up over and over, so i figured i would answer a few of them in a forum post.

1) Q: Will my character I have now cross over to the new version?

A: NO, the game will change so much it will be imposable to keep any old characters.

2) Q: Will I still have the levels i had when the new version starts?

A: NO, the new skill and game play systems will be so different that it will be imposable for anyone to keep there levels

3) Q: Will i still be able to play the old version of the game when the new one starts?

A: NO, the old version will no longer have a server that runs the software and we will never be running a server with the old version again.

4) Q: Can i play the old version of FreeWorld as a standalone game on my PC so i can play the character i had just for the fun of it.

A: NO, FreeWorld requires a Client and Server software to run, the client software only has half of what is needed to run the game and we do not plan to release the server software ever. Even when we are testing the game as we develop it we have to open a server on our own PC to be able to run the client.

5) Q: what if i just copy my character information files from the old build of the to the new build, will that make my old character work?

A: NO, all characters are stored on the server, that database of characters files will be deleted. SO, it does not mater if you have them on your end, because if we don't have them on our end, there is no way to make it work.

6) Q: is it possible to modify the files on my PC to change thing about my character in game?

A: NO, even if you could change anything the server would do one of two things.. 1) kick you out of game because your files do not match the server files OR 2) if it was something that did not mater to game play.. you would be the only person that could see it, because your files do not effect the information we send other people.

7) Q: Will i be able to play FreeWorld when the new test phase start?

A: YES,...... BUT, we will be going back into closed testing and will only except sign-ups for a limited amount of time. All players that sign up during that time will be invited back.

8) Q: How long will sign-ups be open for?

A: we have not set an amount of time yet, BUT it will most likely run for about 2 weeks.

9) Q: Do you plan to shut the game down between the change from the old to the new version?

A: YES, the game will most likely be off-line to the public for at lest 2 weeks between the change. (dates un-known)

9)Q: Are you going to send an e-mail to current players so that we will have a chance to signe-up for the new test cycle?

A:Yes an e-mail will be sent out to all accounts on our system, however be warned that spam filters may stop it from reaching you... so be sure to check your junk mail folder if you have one.
