Warcry: What kind of resources did you use when writing? Players Handbook? Any adventures/modules?

BR: We used them all. My favorite is the Book of Vile Darkness. But our most valuable resource was the people at Wizards. They were incredibly at helping us adapt all aspects of game mechanics onto the screen.

RK: The folks at Wizards were also a great resource - kind of like living, breathing Handbooks. We would run things by them and check with them all the time.

Warcry: If you were to envision a campaign made from the story, what kind of side quests would you include?

BR: Further exploration of Malek's Vault and Damodar's dark tower. Cleaning out Hearthshorn Wood. Fleshing out the ruins beneath castle Ismir. Just like with anything else in the universe of D&D, the possibilities are endless.

RK: I would like to get deeper into Malekšs Vault as well.

Warcry: What was your reaction when you were chosen to write a D&D movie?

BR: Are you kidding me? I was thrilled. It was a dream job for me. The kind of job you imagine yourself having when you're a fourteen year old boy. Do you know how rare these things are? They never happen. For months I got up every morning, went through my manuals (I'm always leafing through them anyway, just for fun, because they are so rich in imagination. Getting paid
to do it is a hoot) and made stuff up. It doesn't get much better than that.

RK: Yes. Very, very happy.

Warcry: What sources of inspiration, apart from the game itself, did you draw from?

BR: Youšre always going to be influenced by the accumulation of material you've consumed over the years. There are the fantasy writers who I greatly admire, that I've been reading for years. They are invariably going to affect the way you treat the material, subconsciously or otherwise. For me, the biggies are are Zelazny, Tolkein (of course), Donaldson, Farmer, and
Robert E. Howard. Then there are the computer games. They provide a visual articulation of the ideas that only existed in your imagination. Diablo, Neverwinter Nights, Baldur's Gate, Myth...they all, in some way, help define the lens you use to focus your raw ideas.

Warcry: Do you play other PnP games? Favorite System? Module?

BR: If you mean "pen and paper" then no, it's only D&D for me. And my favorite module is and always will be the Tomb of Horrors.
