Update 42 Release Date Change
We have decided to push Update 42 out by one week, so our current target date is March 28. This gives us some additional internal and external testing time on Combat Revision 2.0 and the upcoming Anniversary Event. It took some soul-searching on the team's part to come to this conclusion, but we believe this is for the best.
The community's participation on the External Playtest server has been, and continues to be, critical to completion of CR2.0. Thanks again to everyone for your help.
Anniversary Event: March 31 through April 2
As I mentioned before, we don't generally like to release an update the same week we run an event. However, we know some folks had to change plans when we moved the original Anniversary Event date and we don't want to do so again. Therefore, The Matrix Online First Anniversary Event will still be held from March 31 through April 2, with some additional fun along the way.
Beta Clothes Response
There was a lot of feedback to our announcement that the beta clothes would be made tradable with Update 42. First, let me explain the reasoning for the original decision.
When we first released the beta clothes, they were scheduled to stop appearing in player inventories when new characters were created in May 2005. At that time, the clothing was also supposed to become tradable. However, the first part of that plan was never implemented.
We also wanted to make them tradable so players who had beta clothing could email them to alternate accounts for storage. Given the current crush of inventory space, this seemed like a desirable feature.
As was pointed out, making beta clothes tradable while they still appear in new character inventories would create a flood of these unique items in the market. The feedback we got was that these are considered genuine markers of our truly old-school players and that making them tradable wasn't something the community wanted. Therefore, we will not be making beta clothes tradable in Update 42.
Fan Faire Registration
On a final note, if you're still interested in coming to Fan Faire, you're more than welcome. You can still register online at http://events.station.sony.com/fanfaire/ even if you don't play EQ, EQII, EQOA, or PlanetSide. So, what do you do about the game questionnaire? Do what any good redpill would: Fake it. ;)
By the way, I have been informed by Brenlo that all Community Relations Managers are required to participate in karaoke. Let's hope for all our sakes that I get a case of laryngitis that day.
