There is a light at the end of the tunnel for issues with quests that require carrying around items needed to complete a quest then having the carrying player go link dead or drop from the group, thus 'breaking' the quest. For the time being, the best advice we here at DDO Warcry can offer is to wait until the very end of the mission to collect these items, then complete the final mission goal...

In certain quests there are items (such as keys or the Gwylan's Stand containers) that are needed to complete the quest. There is a known issue where if the person holding these items dies or leaves the dungeon, the item can be destroyed and you will be unable to complete the quest. At the moment the only real solution if this happens to you is to abandon the quest and try again - do not continue through the quest. We are in the process of testing the fix for this.
