When the phrase "old, powerful, yet reclusive mage" is mentioned, nearly all of us would think of Asheron, or perhaps Harlune. But these Empyrean giants are not the only such folk in Dereth - some of our own Isparian population fit the bill quite nicely. Although few these days know of him, the pyromancer Branith would certainly count amongst the "missing greats", but alas, neither hide nor hair has been seen of him in years.
For a time, however, he was known to reside in the Mite Maze, where Harlune the Misanthrope can now be found. Although he has long since departed, rumours suggest he left some of his equipment behind, which has been found and taken by the rather vocal cacophony of Mites who make the maze their home.
Aesa recently donned earplugs and made a thorough exploration of the Maze, and her findings are now available in our Quest Compendium. Those willing to risk their eardrums in exchange for a piece or two of history should be able to retrace her steps, and perhaps retrieve Branith's Shirt and Staff from the clutches of the Mites for themselves!
